Before Cloverleaf Ends
How Cloverleaf Found Its Way Back to Me
The next chapter — Chapter Thirteen — will be the final chapter of Cloverleaf.
The first version of this story was written in 2020, during the COVID pandemic. I was living alone in a one-room apartment with only my guitars and books to keep me company. During that time, a line from Tomasz Jedrowski’s Swimming in the Dark stayed with me:
“This is how I lived back then — through books. I locked myself into their stories, dreamt of their characters at night, pretended to be them. They were my armour against the hard edges of reality.”
When I finished that original version of Cloverleaf, I put it away in a drawer and forgot about it until a friend encouraged me to breathe new life into it.
I wasn’t sure readers would embrace a love story like this, but many of you did, and I’m deeply grateful for that. Thank you for reading, for sharing your thoughts, and for spending time with these characters.
After Cloverleaf ends, I plan to return to WATERSHED, the second half of The Tipping Point.
xx from me and the boys
